The Australian Annual Budget is currently under review in the parliament, and while there will be a slight reduction in permanent residency allocations, there are still great updates for current student visa holders!
Here are some of the positive updates ensuring that Australia is committed to supporting international students:
• English Proficiency Flexibility: TOEFL iBT has been reinstated for visa purposes, accepted by all Australian universities. Tests taken before 26 July 2023 remain valid for two years.
• Post-Study Work Visa: The Temporary Graduate visa length will be adjusted, but it still offers valuable work experience in Australia. Plus, if you secure a skilled job during this period, you might be eligible for a new 4-year Skills in Demand visa, leading to a clearer pathway to permanent residency

Starting from May 10, 2024, Australian Immigration has updated the financial capacity requirements or also known as the "Show Money". It's crucial to stay informed about these updates before applying for your student visa. Check out Table 1 (as we illustrated) below for detailed information on the new financial requirements such as the:
1. Living costs for one (1) year.
2. Additional costs for partners or children accompanying the applicant.
3. Expected transportation expenses.
4. Exact course fees for one (1) year.
Remember, the financial requirement has increased, so before applying for your visa, ensure you have enough funds to cover your travel, tuition, and living expenses in Australia. Meeting these financial requirements is essential for a successful visa application.
